Ideal for a romantic honeymoon escape or a relaxing family holiday, Casa del Lago provides a unique sense of rural calmness, surrounded by endless fields of green and the Tuscan countryside. This old stone villa brings about a rustic and quaint feeling, having kept all its original features, stone flooring, exposed wooden ceiling and traditional Tuscan exterior, giving it a perfect atmosphere of stillness and homeliness. The villa includes two air-conditioned bedrooms – a cosy queen in one and the other having the potential to be kept as another double bed or separated into snug twins. There is one small, shared bathroom, as well as a kitchen and tranquil dining area, with an additional outdoor seating area for al fresco meals on the patio.
Outside is a blissful and private heated pool equipped with a row of classic white sun beds where you can lounge under the hot Tuscan sun with a sneaky glass of Tuscan wine, surrounded by green fields.
The property is a 40-minute drive away from Berignone Forest reserve where you can take lazy woodland walks, with the nearest towns being Volterra, Siena and Pisa – perfect for a day trip, ranging from a 20-minute drive away to a 1 hour and 20-minute drive away.
For a chance to try the best of the local cuisine during your stay, enjoy Michelin Star dining from Stefano Cavallini at the hotel at Borgo Pignano, where food has been sourced locally. The Valdarno chickens that roam among the olives provide free-range eggs; the Cinta Sensese pigs yield aged prosciuttos, the bees yield honey, and the vineyards provide wine.
